Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Dongguan has conscientiously implemented Xi Jinping's ideas of ecological civilization development, taken the deepening and strengthening of the rivers preservation work as the main line of work, by focusing on preventing and controlling water pollution. Dongguan has made every effort to do a good job in water ecology. The water ecological environment has transformed, and people's happiness has been greatly improved.
党的十八大以来，东莞认真贯彻落实习近平生态文明思想，以推深做实落细河湖长制为工作主线，以打好打赢水污染防治攻坚战为主要抓手，全力做好东莞水生态文章，水生态环境焕然一新，人民群众幸福感大大提升。
Dongguan has continuously strengthened the prevention and control of water pollution. The city implemented a three-year plan for comprehensive management and protection of the river water environment and comprehensively cleaned up 641 polluted rivers. In 2020, the comprehensive index of water quality at the national and provincial test sections ranked third in China and first in Guangdong Province, with an increase of 12.7 percentage points in 2021 compared with 2020. In addition, it took the lead in comprehensively completing the demarcation of rivers and lakes and the safety appraisal of reservoirs and dams. The sand field cleaning and standardised construction took the lead in the province, and standardised construction and management were uniformly implemented.
东莞不断加强水污染防治，落实河涌水环境综合治理攻坚战三年行动计划，全面完成641条污染河涌治理。2020年国省考断面水质综合指数改善幅度排名全国第三、广东省第一，2021年比2020年提升12.7个百分点。并且率先全面完成河湖划界和水库大坝安全鉴定，砂场清理和标准化建设走在全省前列，统一实行标准化建设和管理。
For the governance system, Dongguan has built a city, town and village three levels river protection system in which the main leaders of the party and government respectively serve as the first river leader and the total river leader. A total of 34 Working organization of river keepers, 1045 river keepers and 33 lake keepers have been set up in the city, realizing the full coverage of river and lake management and protection in the city.
在治理制度层面，东莞构建以党政主要领导分别担任第一总河长、总河长的市、镇、村三级河长体系。全市共设立河长制工作机构34个、河长1045名、湖长33名，实现全市河湖管理保护责任全覆盖。
At the same time, Dongguan attaches great importance to the construction of Ecological Belt. By August 2022, about 300 kilometers of Ecological Belt with Dongguan characteristics have been built, creating a number of Ecological Belt with different characteristics.
同时，东莞高度重视碧道建设工作，截至2022年8月，累计建成约300公里东莞特色碧道，打造了一批各具特色的碧道。
The Ecological Belt construction project of Shaxi Lake Park is a model of the Ecological Belt construction of Houjie, creating the most beautiful Ecological Belt around the lake that is suitable for appreciation and chilling, improving the living environment for residents' entertainment and leisure and promoting the urbanisation of Houjie. It not only realises the transformation of the ecological environment, but also dramatically improves the living environment.
沙溪湖公园碧道建设工程是厚街碧道建设的样板，打造了宜赏、宜玩的最美生态环湖碧道，提升了居民娱乐休闲的生活环境，同时推动了厚街城市化建设。不仅实现了生态环境的转变，还大大提升了人居环境。
Ma San Village in Machong is adjacent to Huayang Lake National Wetland Park. After environmental improvement and ecological restoration, it is now magnificent, showing a Lingnan country style with green water. In order to build a business circle in the Huayang Lake area, Huayang Lake Maker Square, Gumei Square, and other projects have been introduced successively. The construction of the Ecological Belt has not only brought a good place for leisure and entertainment to the surrounding people but also injected a strong impetus into the economic and social development of Masan Village, realizing the leap forward improvement of the village's collective economic benefits.
麻涌的麻三村毗邻华阳湖国家湿地公园，经过环境治理和生态修复后，如今华丽转身，展现出一派绿水相依的岭南水乡风貌。为了打造华阳湖片区商圈，先后引进华阳湖创客坊、古梅广场等项目。碧道建设在给周边群众带来休闲娱乐好去处的同时，为麻三村的经济社会发展注入了强大动力，实现了村集体经济收益跨越式提升。
Ten years of effort have yielded remarkable results. Dongguan won the titles of "National Hydro ecology Civilization City" and "National Water Saving City” and was awarded the "Fifth Batch of National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone". In 2020 and 2021, Dongguan's river keeper system work was successively rated as "Excellent" in Guangdong Province. In 2021, Dongguan's river keeper system work was first supervised and encouraged by the State Council. In the future, Dongguan will continue to do an excellent job in constructing an Ecological Belt and present its outstanding achievements to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China!
十年的努力，成果显著。东莞市荣获“全国水生态文明城市”、“国家节水型城市”称号，获评“第五批国家生态文明建设示范区”，2020年和2021年度东莞河湖长制工作连续获评广东省“优秀”等级，2021年东莞河湖长制工作首次获得国务院督查激励。未来，东莞将持续做好碧道建设工作以优异成绩向党的二十大献礼！
